Uber Health
Transportation Partnership for Spravato® Treatment
Encounter Wellness Mental Health has established an exclusive partnership with Uber Health to provide reliable, HIPAA-compliant transportation for our Spravato® patients. This collaboration ensures that transportation barriers do not prevent access to essential mental health treatment.
What is Spravato®
Spravato® is an FDA-approved nasal spray medication used in conjunction with oral antidepressants for treatment-resistant depression and depression with suicidal ideation. This treatment option is available for patients who have not found relief after trying two or more antidepressants and monotherapy.

What is Uber Health and How Does it Differ from Regular Uber?
Uber Health is a specialized, HIPAA-compliant transportation service designed specifically for healthcare settings. Unlike regular Uber, which is consumer-driven, Uber Health is managed entirely by healthcare providers to ensure patient privacy and reliable medical transportation. This service operates through our clinic’s administrative system rather than through personal user accounts.
What Are the Transportation Coverage Details?
Our transportation coverage policy is structured based on distance:
1.
Within 10-mile radius: Patients within a 10-mile radius receive complete coverage for round-trip transportation
2.
Beyond 10 miles: Patients beyond the 10-mile radius receive coverage for the first 10 miles, with any additional distance charged to their personal payment method
3.
Uber Health: All arrangements are managed through our clinic’s Uber Health account

Frequently Asked Questions
How Long Must Patients Wait After Treatment?
Following Spravato® treatment, patients are required to remain under professional medical observation for a mandatory 2-hour period. This observation takes place in our dedicated treatment room, where healthcare professionals monitor patient recovery. Due to the medication’s effects, patients are prohibited from operating vehicles on treatment days.
Who Manages the Transportation Arrangements?
The clinic’s staff handles all transportation arrangements. Upon treatment approval and scheduling, our front office staff will:
- Collect your pickup address and contact information
- Schedule both arrival and departure transportation
- Coordinate timing to ensure arrival 10 minutes before the appointment
- Send confirmation details via text message
Is an Uber Account Required?
No, patients do not need personal Uber or Uber Health accounts. Our clinic manages all booking and payment arrangements through our institutional account.
How Do Patients Recognize Their Assigned Driver?
For safety and security, patients receive specific vehicle identification details for their transportation:
- The exact make and model of the assigned vehicle
- The vehicle’s license plate number
- Patients should visually verify these details before entering any vehicle
- For additional security, patients should request the driver to confirm their name
When Will the Uber Health Driver Arrive?
Our transportation scheduling system is designed to ensure timely arrival for appointments:
- Drivers are scheduled to arrive 10 minutes before the appointment time
- Patients receive text message confirmation of driver’s arrival time on the day of treatment
- If arrival confirmation is not received, patients should contact our office immediately
- The clinic monitors all scheduled rides to ensure reliable service
What is the Cancellation Policy?
Our cancellation policy is strictly enforced to maintain service quality:
- Cancellations require 24-hour notice before the scheduled pickup time
- Late cancellations incur a fee based on factors including distance
- Fees must be paid before scheduling subsequent treatments
- Charges apply if patients delay entering vehicles at pickup
- Future appointments cannot be scheduled until outstanding fees are resolved
What if Patients Do Not Have a Mobile Phone?
Mobile phone access is not required for utilizing Uber Health services. Alternative arrangements can be made through our front office staff to ensure proper communication regarding transportation details.
